Grimes

Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes, is set to be one of 2012's most striking and exciting musicians and style influencers.
A self-taught singer, producer and visual artist, the 23-year-old Canadian has an ethereal falsetto and unique sound that references everything from New Age trance to Korean pop. Bullett magazine described her music as a “marriage between the voice of a human and the heartbeat of a machine.”
Born in Vancouver, Grimes moved to Montreal to study in 2006 and became ingrained in the city’s DIY loft culture that surrounds Lab Synthèse – a 4600sq ft re-appropriated textile factory. Here she recorded her first music and released two albums Geidi Primes and Halfaxa, through record label-meets-arts community, Arbutus Records. These albums were followed by Darkbloom an EP collaboration with producer D’eon.
